The MLCCC Weekend School holds several academic contests each year to promote students' interest in Chinese language learning by challenging them to realize their full Chinese language potential.
Our "Song Li Persistency Award for Chinese Learning", sponsored by the Song Li China Culture Foundation, was established to award our Weekend School students who have persistently spent years of personal time learning Chinese by attending our Weekend School Chinese language classes. We also hope that this award will encourage all of our Weekend School students to demonstrate a persistent effort and take pride in learning Chinese and attending Chinese Weekend School.
The guidelines for the Persistency Award for Chinese Learning are as follows:
Although this award has traditionally only accepted 2-hr classes to accrue toward the award, due to the unusual virtual environment caused by the pandemic, we are accepting 1-hr virtual CHL-K and Montessori K classes that were held in the 2020-2021 school year to be eligible to accrue for this award. Monetary size of award is not changed. Example, student who enrolls in 1-hr CHL-K in 2020-2021, then 2-hr CHL-G1 in 2021-2022, 2-hr CHL-G2 in 2022-2023 will have earned the 3-Year $100 Award by the end of 2022-2023 school year.
We congratulate our students who qualify for any of the above-mentioned award levels, and encourage more students to reach the highest level possible!
MLCCC PTO is made up of parent volunteers to serve our students, teachers and parents.
Our mission is to enhance the cultural experience and help build a community for MLCCC families from all different backgrounds. In addition to assisting school administrators with events, PTO will host additional activities to enrich our students’ learning environment. Together with the excellent academic programs by our dedicated teaching staff, these activities provide a holistic approach to learning both the Chinese language and its rich and extensive culture.
As the old saying goes: It takes a village to raise a child! Parent participation is essential to the success of our PTO. We truly appreciate the talents and enthusiasm of any parent volunteer. We welcome you to participate or help in any way you prefer. Please feel free to ask questions and/or contribute ideas during school hours or email to PTO.

"We love MLCCC! My kids not only improved their Chinese, but also enjoyed all kinds of cultural activities held at MLCCC. The teachers are great, very loving and encouraging, and very responsible. Special events such as the Mid-Autumn Concert, Chinese New Year Gala and School-Year Assembly are always our family's favorite times. We have been so happy that we found MLCCC as our kids' weekend Chinese school for the past two years."
"We changed to the weekend school from another school-based program in the area. MLCCC staff were so welcoming and helped us find the right level for him. He fit right in. The teacher was excellent! The class was well structured around the lessons in the book with the right balance on the didactics and the speaking/practical part. The teacher did a great job managing the classroom and drew appropriate participation from several energetic boys and very quiet girls. My son loves Chinese and thrived at the school. We are not native speakers but he was able to make and sustain his progress. We are looking forward to the fall semester!"
"The Chinese Calligraphy and Painting class has been extremely fun and is also a therapeutic journey. I am looking forward to continuing with the class."
"MLCCC is a great place to learn Chinese language and culture. The Center is very well run and the teachers are excellent."
